1.While是从属连词，而but是并列连词。这就意味着，while要连接两个独立的句子，而but既可以连接两个独立的句子，也可以连接两个并列的结构。
The housing price in country A dropped, while the figure for country B climbed. (√)
The housing price in country A dropped in the first five years, but climbed by 2% between 2000 and 2005.(√)
第二句话，两个动词的主语都是 the housing price in country A
2.从上面两个句子来看，while一般是两个东西的比较，而but 可以是描述一个东西本身的转折。
第一句话是对比两个国家的房价差异，而第二个句子说的是一个国家的房价变化。
3.While 在对比两个东西的时候，可以放在句首、也可以放在句中，而but只能放在句中。
