1. Technology progress has changed our lives, but it also brings some negative effects. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Good

　　2. People have enjoyed longer life expectancy due to progress in medical care.
　　3. Technology frees people from repeated daily work, thus providing people with more leisure time

Bad；
　　1. Some technological inventions pose potential risk for security including nuclear weapon
　　2. Lifestyle has been more stressful since machinery starts to replace humans
　　3. Interpersonal relationship becomes more isolated and indifferent.
　　4. Technological progress has widened the income gap.

2. Newspapers have an enormous influence on people's ideas and opinions. Why is this the case? Do you think it is positive or negative?

　　Reason:
　　1. People tend to trust on newspaper due to its authority.
　　2. cheaper price and wider coverage means newspaper is more accessible to general population.

　　Positive:
　　1. This trend enables people to concentrate on some emergencies and urgent event, thus enhancing the supervision.
　　2. The public tends to be more cautious.

　　3. Sending criminals to prison is not the best method of dealing with them. Education and job training are better ways to help them. Do you agree or disagree?

　　Disagree:
　　1. This is considered as a punishment because they are deprived of freedom
　　2. Putting criminals into prison is an effective way to prevent them from committing crimes again especially for those cruel criminals.

　　Agree:
　　Education helps those criminals to learn how to distinguish what is right and wrong and that is the rooted cause why they commit crimes.
　　2. Teaching them job skills is a way to avoid them to commit crime after they are set free

4. Public museums and art galleries are not needed because people could see historical objects and works by using computers. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

　　1. It is more realistic and visitors are able to gain echoes.
　　2. Museums and art galleries provide people with atmosphere to appreciate the works and masterpieces.

　　Disagree :
　　1. Viewing those objects and works online is economic and convenient.

5. Some people think that the government should decide which subjects students should study at the university, while others think that students should be allowed to apply for the subject they prefer. Discuss the two views and give your opinion.

　　Government:
　　1. Government is able to take social development into consideration when deciding which subject is more essential.

2. It involves more educational resources including experts and technologies, which makes the decision becomes more reasonable.

　　Students:
　　Freedom to choose what they are willing to learn enables them to study in a more passionate way.

6. Some people think that using animals for experimentation purpose is cruel, but other people think that is necessary for the development of science. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

　　Side A：
　　It is justified for people to say that animal experimentation is brutal. There is no deny that animals have right to live in the world while animal experimentation obviously deprive their lives on the purpose of benefiting the humans. Moreover, In the process of research, animals may suffer from a lot of pain, especially in those drug tests because the drug may have side effect and the study may experience a long time to see the response of animals in order to get the valuable information for some newly-invented drugs. 

　　Side B：
　　This experimentation is essential for the development of science especially the higher success rate of medical care treatment.

　　7. A country becomes more interesting and develops more quickly when its population includes a mixture of nationalities and cultures. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

　　Agree:
　　1. A nation with multinational culture is more likely to own creative opinions and solutions: different thinking pattern
　　2. People in this country tend to be more open-minded and tolerate different opinions .

　　Disagree:
　　1. It is likely to generate conflicts due to difference in cultures.

8. Nowadays people in many countries are encouraged to buy more and more consumer products, while others believe it is bad for the society as a whole. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.

　　Side A:
　　1. More consumption may promote the economic development.
　　Side B:
　　1. in terms of the consumers, this trend leads to dissatisfaction
　　My opinion:
　　It is reasonable for government to encourage the consumption considering the dynamic economy. Meanwhile, the over-consumption may also cause some inconvenience and potential problems, which requires the concern from the authority.

9. Today, the qualities of life of people in big cities are worse. What are the causes of this problem? Any measures should be taken to solve it?
　　Causes：
　　People suffer from pressure from all aspects of their lives, especially work and study.
　　Confidence crisis usually appear in the big cities.
　　Solutions:
　　Appropriate psychological intervention should be provided.
　　Individuals are encouraged to participate in more social activities.
