雅思写作中的如何表达“许多”

 在雅思写作中，在主体段落扩充方面，我们往往会在名词前加表达“多”概念的短语或者形容词，然后，对于本身对这些短语就不太熟的同学，使用起来就会破洞百出。那么如何从根本上克服这些问题呢?我认为将这些短语归纳和总结是解决这个难题的方案之一。

雅思写作中的如何表达“许多”一、首先用来修饰可数名词复数形式的短语有哪些呢?

简单粗暴级别的词汇有：numerous, various, many, some

稍显复杂的表达例如短语有：a large number of , a great many, scores of、dozens of和quite a few

高手级别的有：a host of / a wealth of individuals / citizens

1. There are numerous methods of handling this challenge

2. A great many individuals would be opposed to this perspective

3. A great number of problems have arisen from this act carried out last year.

4. Scores/Dozens of calories would be burned by exercising regularly.

值得注意的是：

1)many 也可以做代词用，表示“许多人”

many of them, however, stand on a totally different ground.

2) a great/good many 做代词，表示“许多人(东西)” eg A great many of us like American English better than British English.(我们中的许多人喜欢美语胜过英国英语)

3)the number of + n (可数名词复数)表示"....的数目”,用它做主语时，谓语用单数

eg The number of citizens keeping pets has risen to fifteen percent in the last few years.

There was a little change in the number of people using the Internet during the period.

简单粗暴的词汇和短语有：

much、 a great / good deal of 和a large amount of

高手级别的词汇和短语有：

An avalanche(雪崩) of

eg It is obvious that supporting the space exploration will consume much public fund of our government.

A great deal of limited fund would be put into implementing this policy.

I spend a large amount of money on books every month.

An avalanche of interest will be need.

值得注意的是：

1)much 单用，做名词表示“许多，大量” eg Much has been said about it .(关于这种事已经说的很多了)

2)a great deal 做名词词组和副词词组，也表示“大量，许多”/ 还可以修饰比较级，表示程度。

eg At the end of the year there was a great deal to do .(年底有很多事情做)

eg They talked a great deal about the problem.(他们对这个问题谈论了许多)

eg He is a great deal better today (他今天好多了)(修饰比较级，表示程度)

雅思写作中的如何表达“许多”三、既可以修饰可数名词复数，又可以修饰不可数名词

a lot of 、lots of 、plenty of 、supplies of ，

a great/quantity of 、great/large quantities of

eg he has got a lot/lots of questions to ask.

A lot of / lots of work is to be done this week.

There are plenty of books on the shelf.

I have plenty of time to do it

Supplies of trees were washed away.

We have had a large quantity of /large quantities of rain this summer.

Large quantities of fish have been caught recently.(最近捕了大量的鱼)

值得注意的是：

1)a lot 名词词组表示“大量，很多”/做副词词组表示“很多，非常，相当”/做程度状语修饰比较急

eg I have a lot to do today. (很多事 名词)

eg he helped me a lot (副词很多)

eg I like this picture quite a lot (副词 非常)

eg I’m feeling a lot better now (程度状语修饰比较级)我现在感觉好多了

2)large quantities of + 不可数名词/可数名词复数 ，谓语用复数

eg Large quantities of water are needed every day. (修饰不可数n)

There are quantities of flowers in garden.(修饰可数n 复数)

eg Many a girl in our class has learned to swim

Many a book was translated into English.
