　　分析：话题出现了过于绝对的only。在认可图书的重要性之后，不妨再提出高科技媒体的优势：储存信息需要的空间少( compact information storage); 查找信息更快( more efficient data retrieval ); 具有娱乐性的用户体验( offer entertaining user experiences)等。

2. People think that public libraries will be replaced by computers in our homes. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
　　分析：在家里用电脑看书：可以为我们带来方便并且节约时间；电子书是数码格式(e-books are in digital format), 所以在电子书里查找关键词更简单也更快捷( searching for keywords in an e-book is much easier and quicker than in a traditional book); 看电子书时还可以调整字号来适应我们的阅读习惯( change the font size to suit our reading preference).

但公共图书馆不仅拥有大量的书籍与期刊(not only contain a wealth of books and periodicals), 还提供了良好的学习氛围( provide an atmosphere conducive to learning ), 盯着电脑屏幕( staring at a computer screen), 也不像阅读印刷的书籍那样适合人们的视力与阅读习惯（does not suit our eyes or reading habits as well as reading printed books）。而且即使Apple今后推出更薄更轻的平板电脑，也无法完全代替公共图书馆为我们带来的社区感( cannot fully replace the sense of community that public libraries can bring us)。

3. Maintaining public libraries is a waste of money because computer technology is now replacing their functions. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
　　4. Some people think that the government should establish free libraries in every town and city. Others, however, believe that it is a waste of money because people can access the Internet at home to get information.
　　5. Some people think that the age of the book is gone. All the information will be presented by multimedia tools such as video, computer and television. What is your opinion?

The purpose of traditional libraries is to store and provide access to paper books. However, I disagree that only providing paper books would be the best way for public libraries to serve their users in the twenty-first century.
　　Public libraries are funded with their cities’ tax money so they should try to meet the needs of the local residents. In the past, library users mainly relied on paper books for information. Today, however, multimedia resources, such as computer software, videos and DVDs, are playing important roles in people’s search for information. They are more interactive and are well suited to children whose attention span is not very long. Multimedia resources can also hold much more information than books. For example, the data of hundreds of paper books can be stored on a DVD. As many public libraries today lack space for the storage of paper books, multimedia devices can help libraries to increase their collection and supply of information. 
　　Another advantage of multimedia resources is that the key information in them can be easily founded with electronic search tools, while the key words and phrases in paper books are often hard to find, even with the help of indexes. As a result, the running costs of libraries providing multimedia resources tend to be lower than those of traditional libraries because book-based libraries have to hire more staff members to help readers to find the information that they need.
　　In spite of this, some library users may feel that paper books suit their reading habits better. They enjoy holding a book and turning the pages, or simply the texture of paper. Paper books are also less likely to cause eye strain for readers than multimedia reading devices.
　　In conclusion, I believe that good public libraries should provide access to multimedia resources while continuing to provide users with a wide selection of paper books.
