Task 1

Well, I definitely agree because that’s how I finish my college courses.
To begin with, if my friend wants to graduate earlier, he should do whatever he needs to. So if that’s the requirement, I think he has no other choice.
Plus, graduating one year earlier also has many benefits. For instance, he needs to manage his time very carefully so that he can have all the credits. And he can start his career earlier than his fellows, so he can be more competitive.
Task 2
Your university decided to allow local communities to listen in the campus, they could enter into the class, but can’t ask questions and don’t have assignments. Do you agree or not agree?

As for me, I don’t like this idea because I think local communities will interrupt the class.
Well, to be honest, local communities don’t need to pay for tuition, so they might probably don’t take the classes seriously. They might go the class all in a time, or none of them would go to the class. Just imagine, if all people go to one class together, there are too many people in the classroom, which is too crowded that students might be annoyed and the professor might be overwhelmed.
That’s why I don’t think it’s a good idea.
Task 3
In the reading, the student proposes that students should not go into the research garden because they will damage the plants and students can go to a nearby garden to relax.
In the conversation, the student has a negative attitude.
First of all, students damage those plants because they don’t know the plants are for research. So the school should make some rules and inform students. In this case, students won’t damage them any more.
What’s more, the nearby park is very far away. If students don’t have cars, they can’t go there. But most students don’t own a car, and there is no public transportation nearby. As a result, students can’t go there.
Task 4
Delegation is very difficult because it’s hard to assign power in the reality.
In the lecture, the professor uses an example to explain it.
In the restaurant, supervisors have their own businesses to take care of. However, they also need to supervise chefs. So it’s a tough situation for supervisor. If they give too much freedom to chefs, they will be considered irresponsible and will be criticized and might end up in losing jobs. However, if they give the delegation to others, others might take his place, which cause worries as well.
Task 5
The woman’s problem is that her business club has some activity, so she has to spend time preparing a speech, but she also needs to go to a concert with her friends tomorrow.
So she can either prepare for the speech or go to the concert.
As for me, I think it’s better for her to prepare for the speech. Even though it might cost a lot of time collecting info and materials, it’s good for her leadership, especially when she really wants to have a position next year. Plus, she can always go to a concert next time.
Task 6
In the lecture, the professor talks about geoengineering, which means to change the environment to reduce pollution and destruction.
The first example is about a substance. It can take in a lot of carbon dioxide, and it’s very cheap and easy to use.
Another example is about a substance that is widely-used. It can be used in the streets, and people can just dig it out and use it.
