雅思口语Part3:Gifts
Q1.Do you often give gifts to people?
A1.Oh yeah, quite often. Actually I give gifts to the others all year round:
In January, three of my family members celebrate their birthdays and I give gifts to them;
In February, when the Spring’ s Festival is coming, I’m gonna rack my brain just like everybody else in our country for which presents I should give to my relatives and friends
From March to October, five of my colleagues and three of my friends will be birthday girls and boys one after another and I certainly will attend the parties and give bottles of wines with cards.
And I should never forget Father’s Day and Mother’s day, when it’s time to give my parents a surprise.
And I think there is no need to list them all, I mean, all the occasions when I need to give gifts.
Q2.Do you think it’s easy to choose what to give other people?
A2.To be honest, NO, NOT AT ALL! Just think of it, every year, you need to give the same person, on the same occasion, for the same reason, yet a completely different thing! Well for the first 2 or 3 years, perhaps it is not a problem. However, when you need to do this every year, even only once a year, for over 10 years, wow, you will find the simple giving-a-gift thing eventually become mission impossible. Take myself as an example. It took me less than an hour to decide what I should give my husband as our anniversary gift. And it’s not very hard to figure out the second gift and the third. But, last year, right before our fifth anniversary, when I realized that ties, belts, scarves, facial and body wash, toners, cakes…all of those had been once my choice, I felt, well, a little bit hopeless. And thanks for my friends ideas that finally I bought him a zippo. But soon I found guilty cus it’s kind of encouraging him to smoke!
