Fast food has come under fire over the past decade,following people's pursuit of healthy diet. In a narrow sense, a healthy diet means the rice,vegetables are free from the pollution by poisons,such as pesticide,herbicide or heavy metal and the meat consumed does not include antibiotics or hormone.In a broader sense, a healthy diet put emphasis on eating more vegetables and fruits,but less fatty food.To ensure citizens have a healthy diet,both government and individuals have responsibility.
Those advocating that it is government's obligation to ensure healthy diet claim that government have overwhelming superiority in intensifying the supervision to the food safety and increasing penalties against immoral manufacturers.For example, the nerves of consumers are badly rattled today after a toxic baby milk scandal. Government, after having a probe into all baby milk powders,should arrest those milk dealers since hundreds of children were diagnosed with kidney stones and even died.In this case, never can these illegal dealers be kept in check without the yoke of laws issued and staged by government. Another justification is that government can subsidize some agricultural projects which are aimed at reducing crops'reliance on pesticide. Last but not the least, government can also offer people intensive lifestyle education ;
However, proceeding from the narrow sense of healthy diet, it mainly depends on individual's choice of lifestyle. Large amount of dietary energy intake form animal sources,reduced levels of physical activity and increased sedentary lifestyles all contribute to the growing number of food-related chronic diseases and obesity. Aware of this, individual must take steps to prevent this problem becoming larger still.In addition, yoke of opinions is also of paramount importance for government to supervise food security.
On the basis of the above-mentioned arguments,only by joining the efforts of government and individual can citizen's healthy diet be ensured,whether from the narrow sense or broader sense.
