托福口语Task 1
Describe an activity you enjoy doing in your school recently. Explain why you enjoy doing this activity in your school. Include specific reasons and details to support your response.
sample answer:
Actually, we Chinese students have little time for any activities because of the heavy schoolwork. But we always make a point of organizing activities whenever we can. One of the activities we often have and which I enjoy most is the end-of-year party. It’s usually held at the end of the school year to celebrate the coming of a new year. We would decorate our classroom with ribbons and paper flowers and put paper-cut on the window.
We would also buy some fruits snacks and drinks. At the party, we would put on various kinds of performances like singing, dancing guessing riddles and so forth. At the end of the party, we would vote to choose a queen and a king. It was really great fun.
托福口语Task 2
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement:Students should do part-time jobs before attending college. Please use specific reasons and examples in your answer.
sample answer:
I believe it is necessary for students to take on part-time jobs before they go to college so they can accumulate work experience and become more competitive in the job market. For example,I worked part-time throughout the last year in high school and took an internship position in the summer before college.
For most of the time I felt very confident about myself because I was able to pay my own tuition and build up a resume that eventually led to a great full-time position after I finished college. I became a much stronger candidate in the job market because of the work experience I had rather than the grades I got in college. Therefore, I think students should work part-time before going to college.
托福口语Task 3
The university is planning to add more seats in the Anderson Theater on campus and the woman in the conversation opposes this proposal. First, the university believes that there aren’t sufficient seats in the theater and a lot of students have been unable to go to the shows they’ll like to see because they can’t get a seat. According to the woman, however, most shows at the theater are not sold out and have empty seats available, so it’s unnecessary to add more seats in the theater.
Besides, the university would like to use the additional income from selling more tickets at the theater to fund itself. The woman in the conversation also disagrees with this idea because the construction at the theater is a big investment and it will take a long time for the university to recoup the construction cost. Thus, the woman disapproves the new plan.
托福口语Task 4
The term psychological risk refers to a situation where consumers are concerned that a product might not fit their personal belief. This would cause consumers to hold back their decision to purchase the product. The professor uses an example of a sports car manufacturer to show how understanding consumers, psychological risk is able to achieve desired results through advertisements.
A sports car manufacturer was advertising a sports car with an emphasis on how fast the car could run. However, consumers were worried that the car might pollute the environment and thus a lot of potential buyers were holding back their decision to purchase this car. After finding out this psychological risk, the company began to advertise how environmentally friendly the sports car actually was. As a result, environmentally conscious consumers felt more comfortable about purchasing the car and the sales of the car increased.
托福口语Task 5
The woman in the conversation is writing a paper for her architecture class but the book she needs for the paper isn’t available in the library on campus. She can either file for a book transfer from another library or drive to the other library and pick up the book herself. In my opinion, it’s better for the woman to drive to the other library and pick up the book herself. First, if she files for a book transfer, the book won’t be here until the end of the week.
However, the paper is due next week so she won’t have enough time to go over the book and finish her paper. In this case, she might get a bad grade on the paper and maintaining one’s academic performance should always be a priority for a college student. In addition, if she drives there and picks up the book herself, she’ll have plenty of time to do research and finish up her paper nicely. Her professor will be impressed and it’ll help her resume or even her career in the long run. Therefore, I prefer the second solution.
托福口语Task 6
In the lecture, the professor talks about the benefits brought by the growing prevalence of return migration, which is the process of people returning to their place of origin. The two benefits include innovating and developing the returnees’ hometown. In the professor’s example, a friend of the professor’s used to live in New York City and after a while moved back to his hometown.
As he returned home, he proposed to upgrade the bus system in his hometown and as a result, his hometown was able to innovate the infrastructure of the bus service based on the design in New York. In addition, these big city returnees can also prosper the economic development of their hometown. For instance, after the professor’s friend returned home, he found the real estate in his town was much more affordable than that in New York and told a lot of his friends to buy houses there, which facilitated the economic development in his town.
