Task 1: Talk the advantage and disadvantage of the wide use of robots. Explain your answer in details.

I think robots are important for our future for the following reasons. First, robots have been a major part of human culture for a long time already. We rely heavily on machineries. They produce cars, computers, cloths and all soft of things. Very few of what we need is made by hand nowadays. They do such a great job at these tasks, with better speed and precision than human. Second, as artificial intelligent gets better and better, they will help us to make things ruming more smoothly. Who knows, maybe the day machines surpass human will come sooner than we imagined.

Task 2: Some people prefer to finish reading a book in one setting, others prefer to read a few pages each time. Which do you prefer? Explain your answer in details.

I prefer to finish a book in one single setting for the following reasons. First, I’m a fast reader. I can finish a book within a day without any problem. This means I rarely have to buy books. If there’s a book I want to read, I’ll just go to my local library to get it, finish it over the weekend, and return it on Monday. Second, I’ve tried reading a book on a bus on my way to school. I didn’t enjoy it at all. As soon as the story gets my attention, I have to stop reading because I need to get off at my station. Over time, I would lose interest in it and forget about it.

Task 3

A history student proposes that the history department should hold monthly meetings so that students can get more information and it’s also a good way to socialize.

The man disagrees with the proposal. First, he says if students want to get more info, they can go to the history dept website, or go to their office and ask the staf for it. Second, he thinks the meeting will be too serious to be a social activity. He prefers more relaxing activities, like ones with drinks and stuff.

Task 4

Animals benefit from human environment. For example, doves can be seen on campus buildings or on the ground. They think it’s safe to raise their children here. Also students feed them with meat and vegetables, so it’s also easy for them to get a big meal.

The woman needs to choose a biology class but the deadline for choosing courses has passed.

The first solution is to take it next semester, but it’s the woman’s last semester and they won’t be doing research next semester. The second solution is to pay 75 dollars to take it, but she doesn’t have the money.
