托福阅读之词汇题解题思路

词汇题是托福阅读中很重要的一种题型，占比大相对拿分比较容易。这里讲解一些较快的解题思路，能在不认识提问单词的情况下尽量拿到这一分。

方法一：词根词缀法

顾名思义，根据某些单词的词根来解决词汇题。

This unprecedented development of a finite groundwater resource with an almost negligible natural recharge rate—that is, virtually no natural water source to replenish the water supply—has caused water tables in the region to fall drastically. 

The word “unprecedented” in the passage is closest in meaning to

○difficult to control

○without any restriction

○unlike anything in the past

○rapidly expanding

    Un：不  ---difficuly;without;unlike

pre：之前  ----past

ced：走

ented：adj后缀

由此可以看出，词根词缀解答的题：答案是多个单词所组成的小短语。

方法二：例子与主要论证对象特质一致

例子很多时候都是为之前论述的话服务的，很多时候能够把抽象具体化，所以如果提问单词所在句子前后有例子，一定要好好利用一下。

Supporting evidence comes from research showing that aggressive people often distort other people's motives. For example, they assume that other people mean them harm when they do not.

    The word “distort” in the passage is closest in meaning to

后边有例子，他们假定别人要害他们其实别人没有的时候（总有刁民要害朕），很明显，是扭曲别人的意图。选B。

方法三：利用并列关系去推断：

并列关系词：and not only ..but also as…as and both … and either… or neither… Nor

并列前后的词即使不是完全相近的同义词，前后感情色彩也一定是一致的。

She embarked on her career by working as a newspaper reporter in Wisconsin and soon began writing novels.

The phrase embarked on in this sentence is closest in meaning to

○took a trip to

○started out on

○improved upon

○had a opinion about

Embarked on 与 began并列，很明显选择B。

方法四：该词前或后出现的内容提存在反义关系。

反义逻辑词： rather than ;instead; unlike; contrast ;on the contrary.

    The main conflict in the novel is between a mother who places a high value on hard work and honor and a son who repudiates his mother’s values instead preferring the easier path to fortune and celebrity

    The word repudiates in the passage in closest in meaning to __

  A) refuses to accept 

B) lives up to 

C) tries to understand 

D) makes the best of

从后面的小词 instead这个词判定儿子和妈妈的价值观念是相反的，由此信息看四个选项，只有A选项带有否定的意味,答案选A。
