Task 1

There are three history subjects, choose one you would like to learn. History of science, art history or history of technology?

Sample answer

When it comes to the history subject that I would like to learn, I would choose history of science. To begin with, science can provide me with professional knowledge. During the process of development of science, there discovered more and more knowledge. In this case, I can learn a lot which can broaden my horizon. In addition, scientists always have the spirit of diligence. Learning the history of science can let me know how hard scientists studied towards the purpose in their minds, which may inspire me to do better during my life.

Task 2

Some people prefer to make a schedule previously, however others prefer to figure out what to do when the time comes. Which do you prefer and why?

Sample answer

From my perspective, I think making a schedule previously is an optimal choice. To begin with, people should have a sketch of what to do in advance. They can know save themselves a lot of trouble when emergency happens because they have planned details ahead. In addition, people can save time if they make a schedule. They have the ability to deal with different tasks. Due to the fact that they have taken almost everything into consideration, they may feel easy when actually dealing with the stuff, which can provide them more time to do other things.

学校要开设child care center

1. 可以帮助教职工照顾孩子，收费便宜

2. 给在那里工作的学生提供工作的机会

听力同意：

1. 教职工压力很大、还要照顾孩子，很painful，有人帮忙照顾又便宜很好

2. 对他也有好处，教授建议他找一个teaching job

Sample answer

The university is going to open up a child care center. All of the children of the staff can be taken care of at a low cost. Also, this place can provide the students there with job opportunities. In the conversation, the male student agrees with this proposal. She thinks that a lot of staff have to work and take care of their children at the same time, this is really painful for the staff. It will be really nice if there are people taking care of their children at low cost. In addition, it is also a good opportunity for him because the professor suggests him to apply for a teaching job in the future.

阅读：

Transitional form介于古生物与现代生物之间，有两者的特征。

听力：

讲了一种鱼，可以用gill呼吸，bones和land animals很像，strong to support the weight，生活在shallow water，也可以用fin在地上找食物。

Sample answer

Transitional form species live between their ancient ancestors and modern species, which have the features of both. The professor uses a kind of fish as an example. It can breathe with gill. Meanwhile, the bones of the fish are like the ones of land animals, which are strong to support the weight of their body. This kind of fish can live in shallow water and also can search for food with their fin on land.

Task 5

一个女生找到一个在book center的工作，然而在学期刚开始她就申请了一个physical affair的工作，现在有冲突了。

1. 暂停book center的工作，但是可能损失钱。

2. 找另外一个女生帮她处理组织工作，但是他们两个经常会有disagreement，会浪费时间。

Sample answer

A female student has found a job in a book center, however, she applied for a physical affair at the beginning of this semester. And now there is a conflict of these jobs. She can suspend the job in book center or she can ask for another girl to arrange the affair for her. From my perspective, I would recommend the first solution, although this behavior may lead to some financial loss, it can save her a lot of energy. If she asks for another girl to do job for her, it will be a waste of time because of the disagreements which they have to argue about.

Task 6

过去的相机没有现在的好，所以当时的photographers用两种方式去改善照片的质量：

1. Cut and paste：把不同照片中好的部分剪下来再拼接。

2. 用画笔涂上颜色，使照片更加appealing。

Sample answer

The functions of cameras in the past were not good enough, so photographers used two ways to improve the quality of photos. The first one is cut and paste. Photographers selected good parts from different pictures and cut them down, then finally pasted them together. The second method is to paint colors on photos, which may make the pictures more appealing.
