    When it comes to whether a nation should require all its students to study to study the same national curriculum until they enter college, it is difficult to give the judgment, for the students all have the right to receive the same quality of education, but still have the right to benefit the special merits of their local tradition or custom. Therefore, I would argue that the best way is to allow the school to determine the academic courses but still require the students to study some compulsory curriculum decided by the nation.
    Students of different race, gender and parts of the nation belong to different community, which share distinctive tradition and custom. Thus, forcing them in the same national curriculum will possibly go against the local residents. For instance, the Asian Americans constitute a distinctive and indispensable group of American, such as Japanese, Korean and Chinese, who enjoy the apparently different langue from English, and also the tradition. At place where the Asian Americans made up the majority of the local people, the schools should and is obliged to provide class about Asia history and language, in order to let the students inherit their ancestors’ spiritual merits, which is significantly crucial in helping the students to form the sense of who you are and where you belong. It is no doubt the exact curriculum will play a profound role in the students’ growth.
    On the contrary, if the same curriculum is required among the nation’s students, the diversity and culture inheritance of the nation will no doubt be undermined seriously. The entire competence of the nation is dubious as well. We all know that the Jews contribute a lot to the development of the United States. Without the contribution of them, such as Einstein and Buffet, the now super nation would be unrealistic. Also, we know that Jews have their special home education to their children, hence, the virtues and other spiritual inheritance can pass down generation by generation. That is the case that if the same curriculum is required among the nation, some virtues of different culture, such as assiduous and perseverance, will probably be ignored by the school for they just obey what the government’s requirement. So the restriction of the same curriculum is dubious and unreliable.
    However, some basic survival skills, such as communication, mathematics, physics and chemistry, should be taught among the nation. If the basic curriculum is overlooked by the local schools, the entire education quality is on doubt. Nowadays, with the competition among nations becoming fiercely, students should be well prepared to suit the now heating contest, some basic skills is specially needed. To equip the student with more efficient knowledge, the very curriculum should inevitably be required by the nation.
    In conclusion, the basis of education is taught the skill to live. Thus, the schools should not only provide curriculum to let the students know how to survive, but also the curriculum to let them know how to live better. Therefore, a compulsory curriculum with discretionary class education system is needed.
