Q: In times of an economic crisis, in which area should the government reduce its spending?

1. Education 2. Health Care 3.support for the unemployed.

Economic crisis, normally considered one of the most vital and arduous challenges for an entity, deserves one country’s full attention and scrupulous financial management which requires sacrifice in certain areas within an appropriate range. It is a common sense to people that education shall be the last thing we consider to limit any kind of support, financial one included.

However, I myself personally believe that the tremendous spending on Education could be reduced to some extent, but undoubtedly under the circumstances of serious economic crisis, and the money saved will be invested in the backbone of the country such as health care and support for unemployed. Here are several reasons contributing a lot to my standpoint.

To begin with, the importance of education for either the whole country or an individual is, admittedly, nothing to sneeze at. Any act that even has the least potential to adversely affect the future development of education might be considered to be short-sighted.

Nevertheless, without the country’s benign financial situation and stable social status, which could be largely damaged by underestimating and mismanaging the economic crisis, the existence of education itself might as well become hollow and, in the end, absurd, since the intellectuals cultivated during the lengthy educational process provide the country with no timely assistance.Education thus no longer  matters when an economic and manufactural revival is desperately required.

One thing the government should not give up on is health care. In the era when the humanity weighs more than everything, wholesome and well-functioned people is the core to bring liveliness back to manufacture and, eventually, economy.

Being comprised of by a country’s fundamental assurance, health care keeps everyone in line and prevents them from disturbance caused by accidental acute illness or trauma. Factories, companies, and even the government itself will be able to operate as usual with certain staff working together.

As a result, the daily routine will be carried on smoothly and even extra as well as daunting tasks which might be set in order to get over the serious economic crisis will also be gotten to grips perfectly as will. The crisis will, thus, be meant to be solved the day when everything is steered back to its trail upon the basis consisting of every single well-functioned workers. That is exactly why the value of health care should always be prior to all others.

On the other hand, the support for the unemployed cannot be ignored as well. The astonishingly high rate of unemployment is one of the most obvious consequences of a crisis. Decreasing the financial support towards those unemployed means to deteriorate the already worsening condition of the working class.Mass unemployment incises people’s resentment and dissatisfaction making it even harder to recover from the economic crisis.

The NEW DEAL brought up and carried out by Franklin. D. Roosevelt can be used as an example. Apart from establishing pensions and insurance for the jobless, creating more jobs for the unemployed through the Public Works Administration is of vital importance, and by the time when the rate of unemployment declined from 25% to 10%, America’s economy finally get back to the track. In conclusion, so far from reducing the spending on the support for the unemployed, the official shall figure out some effective ways to remedy the problem of unemployment at full stretch.

During the special time period of economic crisis, the government has the obligation to adhere to some fields such as health care and endorsement towards the unemployed, an　d to forgo otherwise, education, for example, to cope with the economic crisis in an unstoppable manner.
