雅思口语Part3:Community Services
Q1.Some people say that people help others in the community more now than they did in the past. Do you agree or disagree? Why?
A1: Well on the whole I think so. More people are now involved in community services, which is, a main way of offering help to the residents of certain areas. You can find all kinds of service companies in communities, helping with from housekeeping to nursing. Health, financial and educational services provided by the local authorities are also available and quite often, just within reach.
Q2.What types of services, such as libraries or health centres, are available to the people who live in your area? Do you think there are enough of them?
SA: There are 5 health centres in our community, which means that all of the area is covered with good medical services. Yet there is only one library in the community—which is actually a room of only 20㎡, and with only 200 books. Such a tiny room just cannot meet the need of even one single family. I hope something could be done for this.
Q3.Which groups of people generally need most support in a community? Why?
A3: The elderly and the disabled. These people need emotional support as well as practical care to do things that we take for granted. Actually they have difficulty coping with what we think is trivial; and they even find it hard to establish self-esteem or dignity sometimes. So, I consider it is vital to offer care service to them, and if necessary, financial support.
