例题 Describe a place that features water.

You should say: 
　　where the place is
　　what kinds of features this place has
　　what you can enjoy in this place
　　and explain why you think this place is special.

这是2014年IELTS Part2口语考试中出现的真题，近水之地。这是典型的place地点类的话题。part2的问题侧重点也是表达考生个人的经历和感受，考生可因此来安排自己的回答策略，我们以这个话题为例探讨part2的解题思路。

1. 审题

Part2审题很关键。近水之地第一个小问题问的是where the place is，你除了要说这个地点的名字之外，还有它的location，history，background information；第二个what kinds of features this place has，你可以从软件scenery硬件culture来描述这个地方；what you can enjoy in this place进一步说明你如何以及在哪里enjoy什么；explain why you think this place is special.

Part2最后常常会出现这个问题，其实目的是让考生说说自己个人的experience或者feelings。另外要补充的一点是，我们在描述地点类问题，可以把其他的wh-类型问题补上，即who，when，what，where，why和how，以近水之地为例，即谁去了，什么时候去的，这个地方有什么，位置在哪里，为什么要去和感受是如何的。

2. 对part2结构的一个把握

Part2其实是一个self-presenting的过程，中间考官不会打断你，所以你要把这两分钟组织成一个mini-lecture。

首先要做一个introduction.比较好的方式是“Right then, I’m gonna describe (然后把卡上的第一句念出来，但要注意把your变成my 等等。如：Right then, I’m gonna describe a place that features water。然后我可以接着说I want to talk about Sanya, which is located in the south of China.

上面那个句型可以在大数的话题上用的，只需要根据具体调整具体的内容。接下来的内容我可以用一些连接词来让我的话说的更顺畅。非常有用的连接词是：

As for (然后把卡上的英语念出来,即When and where it happened)，念完就接着说 well, 然后加filler words (填充词)然后回答)下一个环节就换另一个连接词，如：Moving on to the next point, (then), which is regarding (然后把下一句念出来，即What I saw or did)，念完就接着说 well加filler words然后回答)。

最后一个环节就换另一个连接词，如：Finally, if time permits, with regard to (然后把最后一句念，即why the event was so enjoyable)，念完就接着说 well, 加filler words然后回答)，当你把所有的话说完之后，你就可以说：“Ok, I think that’s pretty much everything (there is to say). Thanks for listening.” (“好的，我差不多都说好了，谢谢！) 这句话比 “That’s all” 好几万倍！

Right then, I’m gonna describe a place that features water.I want to talk about Sanya, which is located in the south of China.(where地点的介绍)

As for the purpose, after working really hard for the whole year, I finally decided to take a nice long holiday in Sanya last year.（when/who/ why旅行目的介绍）

Moving on to the next point, (then), which is regarding the scenery, it was amazing! I seemed to have reached the end of heaven and earth. There were clear water, blue sky, coconut trees and rocks everywhere. The hotel I was staying at was a five star hotel which was ideally located on the beach.

The hotel boasted the deluxe sea- view rooms with a private balcony to enjoy the scenery. My room was a luxury suite with huge French doors. And it was equipped with central air-condition, IDD(International Direct Dialing), satellite TV and internet access, which were extremely useful.

The open-style lobby allowed direct access to the beach and the outdoor swimming pool. And when I was lying in bed at night, I could even hear waves lapping over the shore and feel the cool sea breeze!（what硬件软件风光描写）

Finally, if time permits, with regard to my feelings. If I say I was impressed by the sea view from the huge French doors in my room, I should say that I totally fell in love with the sea the moment I jumped into it. God, I was totally out of words describing how beautiful it was. The water there was crystal clear, reflecting the blue sky, white clouds and white sand beneath.

Swimming in it was just like living in a fantasy. Besides the amazing sea, there were so many other things which impressed me: the radiant sunshine, the unbroken coastline, the unforgettable sea breeze, the intoxicating flowers and mouth-watering seafood, whatever you could possibly imagine!（how我的感受）

The sea in Sanya impressed me a lot not only because of the sea itself, but also because of the feeling the place brought me and the memories it left me.Ok, I think that’s pretty much everything (there is to say). Thanks for listening.（conclusion总结）
