听力反对:(1) people can cut rock into half and make special shapes, then glue them (2) bubbles come from concrete, but that concrete repair the pyramids later since built 4 千年前 (3) moisture is left by visitors

阅读:有证据支持巴比伦的花园是存在的 (1) Greek historians 有写过,而且描述详细。 (2) King 有盖过 a variety of complex building (3) 一个 German archaeologist 发现疑似 garden 的 ruins 和 Greek 的描述很像,还有三个 holes 看起来像是打水上去的 pumps

听力: (1) Greek 比 Babylon 晚几百年,而且这些 historians 也没去过 Babylon,根本不是 first-hand。Babylon 的 history 中有 提到其他建筑,就是没提到 garden。 (2) Babylon 的建筑材料只有 clay,但是植物会 broken clay。 (3) 发现 ruins 的地点,离 Babylon main water resource 很远,如果送水很浪费资源,应该不会 garden 盖在这种地方。

侏罗纪时代的生物灭绝的原因: 阅读:侏罗纪时代的生物灭绝了,原因有三。 第一、彗星撞地球,依据就是一些发现的古老的生物还是什麽的碎片; 第二、它们可以 dating back to XXX 年以前,并且在中国,日本还有某个国家都有发现; 第三、然後发现澳大利亚某个沟壑还是海峡有可能就是那个坑 听力: 第一、那些陨石碎片如果真的是 250 million years ago 留下来了,经过这麽久也已经风化 侵蚀掉了 不可能这麽完整; 第二、如果真的是因为撞击地球产生的碎片 那应该全世界各地都有而不是只有那三个国家找得到; 第三、b 开头的岩石 有可能因为撞击地球产生 但也可能是火山运动造成的,况且火山运动更有可能造成 b 岩石产 生 所以推翻 reading。

阅读:在恐龙成为霸主前,发生了一次大灭绝,可能原因有三个: (1) decline of sea-level: 造成 coastal & shallow-water 生物灭绝,进而影响食物链 (2) volcano activity: 喷出大量 sulfur dioxide,keep temp low (3) 陨石撞击: 造成 soil & rock 碎裂,制造大量 debris 覆盖在大气中,block sunlight 造成植物先死,动物也难活。

听力:教授反驳, (1) 海水降低是长期的事件,对生物不会有突然的重大影响; (2) 火山排放二氧化硫不会长期停留在大气层中,持续到现在,全部火山的 SO2 加起来也不会有问题,此外 SO2 可 以跟水结合,变成雨下下来,所以不会有事,且雨水会与其结合,把它带回地表。 (3) 陨石撞击是在大灭绝前 20 million 以前,离灭绝太远了,不太可能有影响。

Deep-sea mining

阅读:文章是的优点 (1) 可以挖掘到深海的很多燃料资源,这样当以後路面资源短缺的时候,深海矿藏是很好的弥补资源。 (2) 因为 deep-sea mine 在离 vent 2 公里远的地方,所以不会 Disturb 这个 vent,所以 harmful material 就不会产生, 从而不会影响到 vent 附近栖息的生物体。 (3) 美国和国际上有很多组织,制订了许多限定 deep-sea mining 的 Laws 和 Regulations。所以他们执行的很好,就不 会产生对生物系统的破坏。

听力:deep-sea mining 的缺点 (1) 虽然海床下有很多的资源,但是 require development of technology.然而,当前的 available large scale of technology for deep-mining does not exist. 所以这种方法是不现实的。 (2) 虽然在两公里元的地方,但是还是不够,还是会 disturb the vent。 这样 harmful material will spread and drift back to the vent. 然後对栖息在他附近的生物产生不好的影响。 (3) 这些组织制定的法律法规不能保证奏效,因为很多的这些法律 do not apply to all countries.

阅读:虫子的 protowings 的作用 (1) 防止幼虫在练习飞行过程中受伤 (2) gills 也和 protowings 有联系,因为它能让 larvae 进入水中 (3) 能吸引 opposite sex。。

听力:教授说 (1) 它对缓冲没大有影响,更 effective 的是用 hairs 和 bristles (2) modern time 是 live in water,但是 ancient time 是 live on land (3) 一般都是雄性有 protowings,很少有两性都有的

新发现的恐龙到底有没有 feather 阅读:lines of the discovered fossils 不能证明恐龙有 feather (1) 可能是 decomposed from skin; (2) 可能是 frills,根本不是化石本身的一部分; (3) 有 feather 是要用来飞和 keep internal temperature。

听力: (1) 在一样的地方发现很多别的动物的 fossil,都证明 decomposition 没发生过; (2) feather 有一种 chemical material 是 frill 没有的; (3) feather 也有一个 function 叫 displaying function, 吸引 mate 的。

历史上俄国潜艇在海底曾经屡次发现一种奇怪的叫做 quacker 的声音,但是声纳每次都检测不出来音源到底是什么。文章给出了三种理论来解释音源是什麽。阅读: (1) 可能是一种叫做 Orca whale 的鲸鱼,说这鲸鱼通过叫声来寻求配偶。 (2) 有可能是另一种 giant squid 的声音,说这种动物特别软而大,还没骨头,所以没法被声纳检测出来。(3) 可能是某个国家发明的特殊的军事技术。

听力材料反驳: (1) 虽然这鲸鱼数量很多,但是在海面附近生活,而潜艇在海底运作,完全听不到声音的。 (2) 潜水艇的记录表示声音只在 1960s~1980s 出现过,后来突然就消失了。而动物一直活着,并不能解释这个突然消 失现象。 (3) a).记录说明声源在快速地变向移动,潜艇没法快速变向。b) 记录表明没有 engine noise,但是即便是今天,人们也 不能发明出没有任何 engine noise 的潜艇

9.  genetic plants 简称 GM 。 Reading passage 的总论点是 GM  有 positive impact。 (1) GM benefit environment,example: 通过转基因使其 resistant to insect pests,这样就防止了农药的滥用。 (2) GM make poor farmer rich,example:转基本使其抗旱,这样那些 dry area 的 poor farmer 能提高收成,收入增加。 (3) GM provide nutrients that are missing in diet, example:吃 rice 的人因为 rice 却 Vitamin A 所以容易得 Vitamin A deficiency。

Listening part 一一反驳了分论点。 (1) GM 的 resistance to pests 会 transfer 给 wild plants,使 wild plants 失去天敌繁殖失控,导致生态失衡; (2) 抗旱的 GM  需要农民买 new seeds from 转基本公司,成本高,会导致粮食收成提高的部分不能使农民真正增加 收入; (3) 解决 Vitamin A deficiency 的根本途径是 change diet,比如多吃蔬菜和水果。

讨论 carved stone balls 的 purpose and meaning。 阅读: (1) 有考古学家理论是用来当武器; (2) 做为 weighting and 测量的工具,因为 size 都差不多; (3) 社会地位的象徵,因为有雕刻。

听力:反对。 (1) 找到的十个都完好无缺,怎麽会是当武器; (2) 就算 size 一样,但质量差很大,因为 material 都不同,密度差很大; (3) 在坟墓里都找不到,因为以前人喜欢把有价值的东西当陪葬品  ,但却没找到。

11. 20110731CN

阅读:墨西哥的一个部落无缘无故没落了,三个原因。 一、外族入侵; 二、乾旱导致食物短缺; 三、大量砍树导致环境变化。

听力:教授一一反对。 一、只有部分建筑是被烧过的,不能说明这就被全灭了; 二、考古发现这个文明很在度过饥荒时很有一手,所以也不对; 三、他们握有 obsidian,可以和其他种族贸易他们想要的很多很多资源。

12.  地球变暖的原因。 阅读认为 3 个原因: (1) 海洋洋流改变; (2) 彗星撞地球; (3) 大量甲烷被释放

听力教授反驳之。 (1) 海洋洋流导致的气温变化很小,不会让地球变暖; (2) 彗星撞地球导致一些物种灭绝,不会导致地球变暖; (3) 甲烷被释放和让地球变暖要上千年的时间,不像阅读说的,甲烷一放,地球马上就变暖。

阅读:Falkland warrah 的祖先是被人从 South America bring 到 Falkland Islands 的文章说原因 (1) 有证据表明,南美人在以前来过 Falklands,留有类似箭头和独木舟的遗迹 (2) Falkland Island 上 only one mammal, 不可能是冰块从海上漂来的,否则应该有很多种 mammal (3) Falkland Warrah are unafraid of human,很可能因为他们的祖先就和人生活在一起,习了 听力中,女教授反驳,认为 Falkland warrah 是通过 natural methods 到达 Falkland Island 的

(1) 比较了 Falkland Islands 上的 Falklan Warrah 和 Warrah in South America,发现 Falkland Wwrrah has many special characteristics。 形成这些特点,估计在岛上已经生活了 70000 年,但是那是连 South America 上都没人呢,所以不 是人带的。 (2) climate is extremely cold,可能是从 ice glacier 漂来的,除了 Falkland Warrah,还有其他小的 mammal,但是这些 小 mammal 都被 the largest 的 Falkland Warrah eat 了,这麽多年後,就只剩它一种了。  (3) 不怕人是因为这麽多年生活在 no natural enermy 的环境下,lose 了防备 predator 的能力,所以当 scientists 发现到 的时候,Falkland Warrah 第一次见到 human 也不 afraid。

鲸鱼搁浅(whale's beaching behavior)而死的 3 个原因 阅读: (1) 病死的(sickness):中毒,生病,感染寄生虫 (2) 因为航海电波干扰它迷失了方向死(military ships' sonar) (3) 地球磁场,地震导致它的死亡(earth's magnetic field changing before earthquake.)

反对 (1) 屍体没发现有毛病 (2) 船的声纳是 mid-frequency,但是 whale 是 low-frequency,所以不存在影响。 (3) 有时地震,鲸鱼也没有死,有时鲸鱼死了,也没有地震,他们没有关系。

15. 20110924CN

Extinction of sea cow

阅读: (1) Siberian people 会把 sea cow 当食物,结果过度捕捉 sea cow,以致绝种。 (2) 受到 ecosystem disturbance 影响,导致 sea cow 赖以为生的食物 Kelp 消失,所以没了食物的 sea cow 也就绝种了。 (3) European fur trader 来到小岛,把最後一只 sea cow 抓走,且这些 trader 有很多武器可以大量打猎 sea cow。

听力:反驳论点 (1) Sea cow 很大只,一只 sea cow 可以让 Siberian people 吃上一个月,且 Siberian people 人数其实不多。 (2) 如果是 ecosystem disturbance,不可能只有 Kelp 受影响,其他生物也会有濒临绝种,但没有记录说当时有其他动 物有出问题。 (3) 根据记录,在 European trader 来之前,sea cow 数量早就下降了。
