Sampleanswer:

Thereading and listening discuss about the same topic- whether Pterosaurs can flyor not. The passage exhibits three reasons support the idea that Pterosaurs canhardly fly. Whereas, the professor totally refutes three reasons presented inthe passage.

Firstly, the professor rebuts the reading’s idea that Pterosaurs are cool-bloodedanimals so that they cannot produce enough energy while flying. The professorclaims that although the climate may be very cold, Pterosaurs are actually withdense covering hair to keep the temperature and can thus be regarded aswarm-blooded. Therefore, it is unnecessary to produce energy for flying.

Secondly, the professor contradicts reading’s statement that Pterosaurs are too heavy tofly. The professor argues that different from traditional thinking, the bonestructure of Pterosaurs is hollow not solid, thus Pterosaurs are not that heavyas considered.

At last, the passage states that the back leg muscle of Pterosaurs is too weak and smallfor flying. However, the professor explains that different from birds thatstand with two limbs, Pterosaurs stand with four limbs. And Pterosaurs areactually like bats, which can push off the ground.

Do you  agree or disagree with the following statement?

It is  important to know the events happened around the world even if it is not  likely to have an effect on your daily life.

Agree:>>

Facilitated  by large exposure to the Internet and other advancing technology, the world  today makes everyone more and more closely connected. Thus, the necessity to  keep an eye on the global events is ceaselessly emphasized. Within a second,  people may feel puzzled why they are so eager to chase after something seems  to be loosely linked to each individual. However, whether they admit it or  not, these events impact their lives in a way more than they can realize and  in a speed more than they can imagine. Therefore, wise men should always be  those keen on every incident happened around the world.

Firstly,  undeniable is the fact that people tend to accumulate knowledge from the  outside, not intentionally but instinctively.   As everyone would agree, knowledge, or the insightful understanding of  the world, makes a real person, since s/he can generate independent thoughts  rather than follow other’s opinion. Since childhood, we have been urged to  learn different courses, useful or useless, judging from how they may impact  our daily life. Have we ever asked about the reason why we should learn? Or  have we ever quitted as we feel the lesson can hardly help us out in a real  life. Seldom. And actually, more often than not, we give our admiration to  the knowledge learned, for we are unwilling to underestimate the power of  thinking and to be ignorant to the possible value of such information in the  future.

Gaining  idea of current events, as a brilliant strategy, is also meaningful to get  people well prepared in the process of globalization. The butterfly effect just  unravels a far-reaching phenomenon to warn people the power of chain  reaction, which is prevalent nowadays. And the business field never lacks  such examples, with one small incident turning out to be a crisis that  involves everyone. Take a look at the political situation in Middle East, and  people will understand the terrible results of failing to keep up with the event.  Middle East, affluent of oil resources, is long suffering from regional  unrest. Every time the turmoil happens, oil companies within the area will  inevitably face great loss, for all infrastructure will be destroyed and  transportation, interrupted. Then the whole world can see one foreseeable  end- the price of crude oil will skyrocket and contribute to increasing  expenditure of gasoline in every household. So how can we be so innocent to  suppose such incident has nothing to do with our daily life?

A step  further, those equipped with better idea of what is going on currently can  win them more opportunities in the job market. As I argued before, the chain  reaction, starting from one point and spreading to the whole, involves  everyone, and definitely every company, especially the multinational ones.  Therefore, it is no wonder that companies now spare no efforts to brief  employees with everyday world news, with the intention to establish a global  risk-defense system. Within such situation, staffs who are alert with all  changes can obviously be the perfect candidates to assume the responsibility  and therefore seize more chances to advance their careers.

In a nutshell,  no one can be isolated from globalization, and some events may even sweep the  world without bondage of frontiers. To be insightful about these incidents is  the only way to help one succeed.   After all, it is too late to cry over the missing knowledge when  opportunities really come.

Be  facilitated by 有了…

Ceaselessly  不停地

Instinctively  本能地

The  butterfly effect

Chain  reaction

Be  isolated from 疏远
