Task 1
1.What type of music do you enjoy most? Explain why you enjoy this type of music.
范文 1:Personally, I enjoy listening to jazz music most because the sensation that jazz brings me is always powerful and exciting. For example, I always feel soothed and relaxed each time when I play jazz music in my room, especially after a long day of work. It feels as if the whole world suddenly quiets down with the jazz music. In addition, last summer I went to a concert featuring one of my favorite jazz musicians. In the actual live performance of jazz, there was a lot of improvisation and interaction with the audience. My emotions were triggered in a different way by live jazz music and I had so much fun. Therefore, jazz is my favorite type of music.
范文 2:I enjoy classic rock and roll from the 1960s and 1970s. My favorite bands are The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, but there are dozens of others that I love as well. Not only are the songs from that era extremely catchy and fun, but they kind of transport you to a different time when you listen to them. You feel the rebelliousness in the guitar solos and the yells of the lead singers. You feel the sheer energy of the era, which was spurred on by social events both good and bad. It was just a wild time back then! And listening to the rock music makes everything seem so immediate. No picture of the 1960s and 1970s is complete without the music. I never get tired of it.
2. Your university is planning to use electronic books to replace paper books and magazines in its library. What is your opinion about this plan? What are the advantages and disadvantages of replacing paper books or magazines?
Include reasons and examples to support your response.
范文 1: my opinion, it is better to replace printed books with digital ones. The disadvantages include inconvenienceIn for students who are unfamiliar with navigating digital books and creating unfair distribution of information as not all students have the device for reading electronic books. However, replacing paper books with e-books is a lot more environmentally friendly. It also reduces physical space required for storing books and makes library management easier. For instance, lost checked-out books would no longer be a problem for the library thanks to cloud computing.
Therefore I believe it is both more economic and green to use e-books in the library.
范文 2:One of the advantages is that it can save a lot of space. Thousands of books could be stored in a single compact electronic device the size of a palm. Another advantage is that it can save a lot of trees from being cut down to make paper for books. However, there are some disadvantages too. For example, those electronic devices are run by batteries. So it might a bit inconvenient to recharge it all the time. Another disadvantage is that some of the electronic devices are quite expensive so not everyone could afford to buy one.

3. Many college students will get homesick when they go away to college. What do you think college students shoulddo to reduce homesickness? Explain why? Include specific reasons and examples in your response.
答案 1:Personally, every time when I feel homesick I would either call my family or hang out with my friends. For example, when I was in college, I could only go back home to visit my family once every semester. Sometimes I felt really sad missing my family so I would call them and talk to them for a while. They would comfort me and make me feel secure again. On the other hand, I would hang out with my friends if my family couldn t talk to me on the phone. Because I had really good friends at school and they were like family to me, hanging out with them also made me feel loved and less lonely.
答案 2:I think the key to beating homesickness is keeping a positive attitude. More specifically, find an activity to do when you miss your family. Painting is a good choice. You can always send your creation back home so a part of you will be with them. This also helps you from focusing on home too much. More importantly, make sure you have a friend. You will be homesick much more often if you re lonely. Having a friend provides a distraction from feeling bad, and it also gives you someone to talk to about it who can comfort you and make you feel better. If the above two solutions don t work. Try to think in this way: you are indeed lucky to have a place or people that are worth missing.Wouldn t it be worse if you didn t miss them at all?
4. Your university is planning to allow students to eat snacks in class. What is your opinion and why? What are theadvantages and disadvantages of eating snacks in class? Include reasons and examples to support your response.
答案 1:In my opinion, eating in class is an impolite behavior to both the lecturer and other students. When I was in college, some of my classmates would eat during morning classes because they didn t have enough time for breakfast beforehand. I understand it is difficult to concentrate in anything when one is hungry but on the other hand, I believe it is necessary to spare time in one s daily schedule to accommodate three meals because when you have a job after school, it is unlikely that you can eat whenever you want to. Further, I remember being disturbed by classmates who were eating in class because of the smell of the food and the sound of chewing. Thus I think students shouldn t eat in class.
答案 2:To be honest, I can only think of one advantage, which is students won t be starved in the class. So for those who get up late in the morning and don t have time to eat their breakfast at home, being allowed to eat in class means a rescue. However, the disadvantages far outweigh the advantages. When students eat things in the class, terrible smells permeate the room, sometimes accompanied by obnoxious chewing noises. So it s impossible for other students to focus because it destroys the learning atmosphere. Often teachers have to wait until this student has finished his meal, which is certainly not fair to those time-conscious students. Once I had this experience of having the same class with a girl who kept eating stuff throughout the class. I m sure she s a nice girl personally, but we were all irritated because one, most of us were hungry, two, it was a tough class, and three, the noise was distracting.

Task 2
1.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It's easier to teach children in primary schools than students in universities. Include reasons and details in your explanation.
范文1:Personally speaking, I think teaching college students is easier than teaching students in primary schools because older students are more disciplined in a classroom and have a stronger motivation to learn. For example, last summer I volunteered to teach basic English to some students at an elementary school. Although those children were adorable, they were not learning well because they couldn t concentrate in a classroom. Most students of that age only wanted to play games in class and refused to do their homework, which was really frustrating for me. Now I teach high-level English to college students and I can get great results because my students are motivated to work with me. Therefore, I think teaching college students is much easier.
范文2:I don t agree with this opinion. I think it is more difficult to teach children in primary schools mainly because the discipline is harder to maintain. There may be many distractions for children that will keep them from learning, and they have a much shorter attention span. On the other hand, students in universities are better at self-motivation and discipline. They are also more aware of the importance of utilizing their time productively. There is a sense of urgency because it is all about their future. There are, of course, many distractions for university students as well, but as adults they are expected to know how to handle them.
2. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Government should spend money on some projects toencourage citizens to lead healthier lifestyles. Use specific reasons and examples to support your response.
范文 1: don t agree with the idea that the government should spend money to encourage its citizens to live a healthyI lifestyle. In my opinion, the choice of lifestyle is personal. In other words, everyone has the freedom to choose the lifestyle they prefer, whether it is healthy or unhealthy. In addition, to determine whether a lifestyle is healthy is
entirely subjective; what the government considers healthy is not necessarily healthy for everyone. Therefore I don,t think the government has the ability to decide a lifestyle that is universally good and it is not entitled to spend taxpayers money to do so.
范文 2:I agree because the costs of caring for unhealthy individuals are ultimately passed on to citizens. With each claim, the costs of health insurance, doctor s visits, medicines, surgeries, and long-term care increases. So, if more individuals have an incentive to do preventive health care, less will be spent on avoidable medical care costs. An additional benefit is that preventative healthcare and healthier lifestyles might save lives. For instance, early detection of certain cancers can significantly reduce the risks of losing life or limb. Government funding to encourage healthier lifestyles is worthwhile.
3. Some people believe that a college student should take a wide variety of courses relating to basic knowledge.Others believe that a college student should focus on some specific courses relating to a specific career. What is your opinion on and why? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
答案 1:I think college courses related to a specific career path are a better choice because future employers expect you to be ready to work in a certain field. A variety of courses do not help students become experts in a certain field. They might help you have a broader education but it won t guarantee you to be competitive in the market. For example, as a nuclear engineering student, I am expected to have a very thorough knowledge of physics and engineering, and if I took too many liberal arts classes my reputation as an engineer will be jeopardized. I have to be very specific when choosing my curriculum if I want to be respected in my field.
答案 2:Given the choice, I would prefer to study a variety of courses even if they are not related to a specific career. As a university student, I really don t know what kind of career I will enter into when I graduate. The courses we are learning, and the types of job that we do may not and do not have to be closely related. It s not surprising nowadays to see an engineering student doing sales and marketing in a consumer goods company. Moreover, just like the old saying goes, variety is the spice of life. By taking a variety of courses my life would be more varied and my curiosity will be greatly satisfied.
4. Some people prefer to collect old things such as newspaper. Other people prefer to drop them. Which do you preferand why? Use specific reasons and examples to support your response.
答案 1:I have been collecting postcards from all over the world since I was twelve years old. I enjoy collecting postcards because they remind me of all the wonderful places I ve been to and precious friendships across the world. Every time when I travel to a new city or overseas I would mail myself a postcard from that place. In addition, my friends in different countries send me postcards every Christmas, which helps expand my postcard collection. For example, whenever I sunny days on the beach in Cebu and all the interesting stories my friend shared with me.
答案 2:Because I am some kind of nostalgia type, I prefer keeping old things to just throwing them away as rubbish. Many old things are filled with sweet memories which can remind people of their past. Thanks to my mom, I still have many toys I played with when I was a little girl. Secondly, old items may have great value for collection. Take newspapers for example. The one with Chairman Mao s opening speech on the Founding Ceremony for China in 1949 surely will be a good bargain in an antique market. Moreover, from an environmental point of view, recycling used items such as newspapers and magazines is a good start towards reducing carbon emission. Finally, when it comes to old clothes, an interesting thing is that fashion always resurfaces after a few years. Old clothes may become vogue again so it makes sense to keep them instead of throwing them away.

Task 3
1:The university is going to move the class to a larger classroom and host extra sessions in the evening. The man in the conversation dislikes the university s new arrangement for the Modern Literature class for two reasons. First, the university believes the larger classroom will be able to accommodate more students. However, the man thinks that in a larger classroom it is more difficult for the professor to facilitate group discussions. In addition, the university hopes to increase student enrollment by arranging extra evening sessions. But the man thinks that most students have extracurricular activities or part-time jobs in the evening, which makes it difficult for everyone to attend those evening sessions. In sum, the man thinks the university s new policy is not an ideal solution to the oversubscription problem in the Modem Literature class.
范文2: university announced that it s going to make new class arrangements to meet the growing demand for theThe contemporary literature course which has become increasingly popular among students recently. According to this announcement, an additional evening session of the course will be provided and class size will be enlarged. In the conversation, the boy disagrees with this new arrangement and explains his reasons for holding such opinion. He says that the more students in a class, the less chance for each student to engage in class discussions, which are extremely important for the study of literature. Therefore the quality of the learning experience will be greatly reduced. Moreover, he argues that there is no point in adding an evening session because most students are not free in the evening. They have different kinds of social activities to do at night and many have an evening job so they will not be able to attend the evening class.
办的 the comedy show.理由1、comedy show will bring too much noise, disturb students preparing for final exam.the 理由2、因为大部分字生都会来看这个comedy show,所以学校的shuttle bus service will be suspended on that night. This is inconvenient.
:理由1:如果嫌寝室太吵,students can go to other classroom like library to study, which
is pretty quiet,是perfect place;理由2, the campus is quite small, it takes only half an hour to walk from one side to another side,校车根本就不是必要的,besides, the comedy show only takes a couple of hours; it s no big deal.
The student letter complains about the school s upcoming entertainment event. It argues that that students who are studying for their final exams will be disturbed by the noise, and that the suspension of bus service during this event will also cause inconvenience to the students. In the conversation, however, the girl does not share the same view. She says that for those who want a quiet environment to study, they can do so at the school library. Furthermore, the school campus is not that big. You can walk across the campus in less than 30 minutes. Plus the bus service is only suspended for 30 minutes. It s not a big deal.
from home to campus by bus or by train。这些学生没有时间go home between classes.
没必要,大家就得deal with this problem。
(Why should they get special treatment?
The university is planning to build a student lounge to help those students who are unable to go home between classes so that they can have a rest there and put their books in the lockers installed. What s more it would serve as a good place to post some important information, such as train schedule. The woman/man in the conversation thinks it s a bad idea. First of all, he/she thinks that it would be unfair to give special treatment to students who live far away because the student dormitory is also very far but students living there are given no help. In addition, the lockers in the library could be used to deposit their books instead of building new ones. Her second objection is that students can easily access information through their means such as the internet or call the train station directly.
理由1、(weixin:laoxikou)她认为afternoon is not the best time,应改到晚上举行,因为大家白天都有课或读书,开音乐会产生的 noise will disturb others。evening 听音乐会感觉will feel relaxed.
The school jazz band is planning to offer free concerts in the afternoon using a large opening area on the school lawn. However, in the conversation, the girl disagrees with this plan. First, she says that having a jazz concert in the afternoon is going to create a lot of noise and disturb students who are studying or reading nearby. Second, she is concerned that the school lawn may be damaged if too many students come to the concert. So in the girl s opinion, holding the concerts in the evening and in an indoor place might be a better option.

Task 4
1.【名词解释】behavior exposure(暴露疗法):kids 可能因为担心(concerning about) negative consequence 而fear to do something new.鼓励他们try new things gradually 让他们意识到positive consequence 他们就会overcome their fear with the new things
His family 刚moved to Los Angeles, some neighbor kids played outside(riding bicycles). He found that his son 趴在窗户上看外面邻居小孩在骑自行车并且wanted to join them but also feared to do so,然后教授就循序渐进鼓励儿子:他先是带儿子去买冰淇淋(He brought his son to a store to buy some ice-cream),之后鼓励儿子对骑自行车路过的小朋友打招呼说HI(Then he asked him to say hi to the neighbor kids when they are passing by them)。 Hi. On the way back, the professor recommended his son to compliment on neighbor kids bicycles. After they returned home, his son asked the professor if he could go out to play with the neighbor kids.
1:The term behavior exposure refers to a therapy that exposes people to the objects or people they re afraid of so they can overcome their fear. In the professor s example, his son Tommy was new to the city and scared of playing with other children. The professor had to expose Tommy to those kids; so one day, the professor took him out to get some ice cream. As Tommy walked by, those children said hi to Tommy. This first step made Tommy realize that the children he used to be afraid of were in fact harmless, which is the second step in the therapy. Finally, the professor asked Tommy to try to compliment on other kids .bikes, which was meant to make Tommy accept these children in his life. After a few times, Tommy became friends with those children and was never afraid of them again.
范文 2:“Behavior exposure”is a technique often used to help children overcome fear and rebuild confidence by exposing children to the people or objects that they are afraid of. The professor further illustrates this term by using his own son Tommy as an example. Tommy was afraid of playing with other kids when his family had just moved to a new town in LA. To help Tommy overcome this fear, the professor asked him to buy an ice cream but wanted him to say hi to the kids on his way to the ice cream store. Tommy did so, and he also said hello to the kids on his way back. Finally, the professor asked Tommy to try to compliment on other kids bikes, which was meant to make Tommy accept these children in his life. After this experience, Tommy was not afraid of kids in the new neighborhood any more, and he even asked to play with them.
3. 【名词解释】:anticipated emotion (预期情绪)Before making decisions, people will predict what would happen after the decision,然后根据这个估测决定自己是不是要做那件事。
教授once he want to attend his sister's birthday party so he decided to go shopping for the gift, when he went into store shopping. He found a very nice jacket and he wanted to buy it for himself. Actually, he has no enough money. If he spent the money on the jacket,就只能buy a smaller and cheaper gift for his sister.他predicted 如果他真的pay for the jacket, he would feel guilty for his sister,所以最后还是put back jacket。Put my sister in the first place he bought a very nice gift for his sister.
答案 1:When making decisions, people tend to anticipate the emotions they might experience as a result of their choices and anticipated emotions often dictate people s decision-making patterns. The professor uses the example of his personal experience to illustrate how he was susceptible to his own anticipated emotions when making decisions. The professor would like to buy a birthday present for his sister but had a limited budget. While he was shopping for gifts, he came across a jacket he really liked and would like to buy it for himself. However, that would mean he had to buy something cheap as a birthday gift for his sister. He simulated the scenario and expected to feel really guilty if he bought something cheap for his sister s birthday. As a result of his anticipated emotions, he decided not to buy the jacket for himself and still bought a decent gift for his sister.
答案 2:The reading passage introduces a term called anticipated emotion. It means that before making a choice, people often anticipate the emotions they might experience as a result of that choice, and this will affect their final decision. The lecturer then uses himself as an example. One day he went to purchase a birthday gift for his sister, but he saw this very nice jacket. He wanted to buy the jacket very much, but he knew that if he spent money on this jacket, he would have little money left for his sister s birthday gift. Anticipating that he must be really guilty by not brining a nice gift to his sister, the lecturer finally decided not to purchase the jacket.
10 pages of history paper, but 教授thought himself a fast worker,很快可以写完,于是he didn t start writing his paper until the day before the due day (deadline)。
1:“Planning fallacy” is a term in psychology that describes a tendency in people to underestimate the time required to complete a task due to their optimism, even if they have prior experience of similar tasks. The professor in the lecture used his personal example in college to show how he fell into this “planning fallacy”. He considered himself a fast writer and didn t begin working on his paper until the day before deadline, even though his professor assigned the paper two months in advance. As a result, he couldn t gather enough resources for his paper in time and the library was closed late at night. He had to ask his professor to grant him an extension for this assignment, which affected his final grade. In sum, the professor failed to account for all the potential problems when planning for his paper and assumed everything would go as smoothly as he imagined.
答案 2:The reading passage discusses a term called “planning fallacy”, which refers to the tendency for people to underestimate how long they will need to complete a task. People commit planning fallacies because they often fail to consider all the possible factors that can affect the completion of a project, and this fallacy can sometimes lead to bad consequences. The professor uses himself as an example to illustrate this term. Back in the days when he was a student, one day he was given an assignment to write a 10-page paper. He thought the topic was easy and presumed he could finish the paper very quickly, so he started working on it only one day before its due date. He went to the library and borrowed some reference books, but they did not give him enough information so he had to return to the library, only to find that it was closed. In the end, he had to hand in the paper late and received a very low score. This is a typical example of planning fallacy.

Task 5
1.【学生困难】女生要在the day after tomorrow 把她自己做的homework:a clay bowl 交给pottery course 教授。但是,this morning she accidentally broke the pottery the into 3 pieces.
【解决方案】女生自己说出两个方案:方案 1. glue the pieces together 后交给教授but there will be some cracks on it 教授会看出来,她担心get a low grade 虽然她并不是art major 但是她真的很想做到最好,方案2. start over again to make new one,但女生说只剩两天时间了,而且她这两天gets another final exam to prepare,所以可能时间不够。
The girl is taking a pottery course, and was doing a pottery making assignment. But she accidently broke the pottery into 3 pieces. She could either glue the pottery back together, or start all over again by making a new one. I would recommend the girl to start all over again, because she has already done it once so it won t be too difficult to make a new one in a short time. On the other hand, if she glues it back, no matter how careful she is, there will always be cracks that can be noticed by the professor, and as a result she may get a very low score.
2.【学生困难】女生要在校报上publish a paper about history of university 但editor 说她paper 写得too long to publish.
章的一部分,删掉一半 cut off the paper to make it shorter 就能立即出版。但女生觉得她花了lots of work to write this paper,每个部分都很重要even included some interview in it,不愿意cut,只能把文章的形式弄成summary 了。 发表(publish)到summer issue。女生担心效果不好,because not everybody attend to summer school and 朋友放假离开学校了,教授和朋友们都不太可能看到她的paper.
答案1:The woman in the conversation is going to have an article published in the campus newspaper but the length of her article is too long to be published. She can either make her article shorter or have it published in the summer issue. In my opinion, it is better for the woman to have her article published in the summer issue. First, if she tries to make her article shorter, she will have to eliminate a lot of important messages in the article, which will make it difficult for her readers to see the big picture and understand her ideas in the most comprehensive way. However,if she chooses to have it published in the summer issue, her article will remain intact and when the fall semester begins, students will still be able to read her article in the summer issue. For these reasons, I prefer having her article published in summer.
答案 2:The girl wants to publish a paper on the school newspaper, but the editor feels that the paper is too long. The adviser suggests that the girl either cut it short or publish it later in the summer issue. I would recommend the girl to take the first option. If she can summarize the paper into a shorter version, she can have it published soon for everyone to see, while if she waits until summer, most students and professors would be away from school so they won t be able to see the girl s paper. Furthermore, I don t think the girl needs to worry too much about her paper being cut short. She can carefully make the revision herself so that the most valuable or interesting part of the paper is unchanged.
money。
1: man in the conversation just lost his digital camera and he is trying to figure out what to do for his trip toThe Spain during spring break. The first solution is to buy a new digital camera and the alternative is to borrow a camera from his friend Jack, who s willing to lend him the camera. I prefer the latter solution because it is very unlikely to break or lose a camera as long as he is somewhat careful. Further, borrowing the camera from his friend can save him a lot of money and he can t afford to buy a new camera at the moment. Thus I think the man should just accept his friend s help and not worry too much about breaking it.
答案 2:The man is planning to take a trip to Spain during the coming spring break. He loves taking photos so he wants to bring his camera with him, but the problem is that he seems to have lost the camera. He and the girl discussed two possible solutions – to buy a new one, or to borrow one from his friend Jake. I would prefer the boy to borrow one rather than purchasing a new one. The reasons are quite simple. First, a new camera is expensive and the boy is short of money so he would probably have to save money for the camera by, for example, staying in cheaper hotels or reducing the length of his stay in Spain, which would make this trip less enjoyable. And secondly, it s possible that the camera was not “lost” but was left somewhere. The boy may be able to remember where it was left or someone may return this camera to the boy in a few days.
a room off campus。
女生说出方案2、去学校的cafeteria sign up for a summer meal plan。
The man has found a summer job and has rented an apartment near the job. But the kitchen is not available in that apartment so cooking has become a problem for the boy. To solve this problem he could either use a friend s kitchen, or he could buy a meal plan from the school cafeteria. I would suggest that the boy share the kitchen with his friend. I think that cooking your own food is definitely cheaper than eating in the school cafeteria. Even with a meal plan from the school cafeteria, you ll have to pay quite a lot of money if you are eating there three times a day. More importantly, I think it s much healthier to cook your own food, since the school cafeteria seldom provides nutritional food.

Task 6
1:Many monkeys live in the top parts of forest trees and have no access to underground water but they are still able to survive. This is because they secure water supply from either food or rain. In the lecture, the first example shows how howler monkeys get water from their food. The majority of their diet is composed of tender leaves and they are able to absorb sufficient moisture from those leaves. The second example is how spider monkeys collect rainwater. Spider monkeys are able to use a cup-like plant as a container and link these cups to the trees in the forest. As the cups are filled with rainwater they drink directly from the cups. These examples tell us that monkeys have their own way of getting water and do not need to live close to water sources in order to survive.
答案 2:The lecture talks about how monkeys obtain and drink water. Two different methods are discussed. The first method is for monkeys to eat food that contains enough moisture. For example, the monkey likes to eat the tender leaves that contain large quantities of moisture, so even if they do not drink water directly, these leaves would provide much of the monkeys water requirements. Another method is to drink the water collected and stored in various parts of the plants such as their stems, roots and leaves. For example, the spider monkey would make use of a special plant whose leaves are shaped like a cup. By attaching these cup-like leaves to the tree, spider monkeys would be able to drink the rainwater stored in them when they need more supplies of water.
1:In the lecture, the professor talks about how non-motile animals living at the bottom of the sea acquire food, including an active and passive method. In the professor s first example, sea anemones are non-motile,usually attached to immovable objects in the sea but adopt an active strategy to acquire food. Some sea anemones are parasitic on other movable marine organisms which can carry sea anemones from one place to another, such as the hermit crabs. As sea anemones are moving with their hosts, their tentacles eject poisonous threads to paralyze their prey and eat them. In the second example, oysters, on the contrary, use a passive method to get food. They barely move to other places but use their cilia as filters and draw in water. They digest the microorganisms and nutrients in the water and then let the water flow back out.
范文2:The lecture explains how immobile marine creatures living on the bottom of the sea capture their food. The first method is active method. For example, the sea anemone looks like a plant which clings itself to other moving sea animals. However, it has tentacles which can release poison to paralyze the prey nearby and then grasp it. The second method is passive method. For example, the oyster does not move on itself, but its shells are slightly open so it can draw in sea water and extract the tiny nutritional food particles that are suspended in the water.
给孵出的幼虫提供充足食物supply food to feed young,有两种方法:方法1、parents lay eggs 之前,先给the young gather and store enough food 在nest 里,然后再飞走。
1:In the lecture, the professor talks about how insects provide food to their young and two possible strategies are storing food before laying their eggs or laying their eggs near a food source. In the professor s first example, female potter wasps have been observed to build their nests, and once their nests are big enough to contain adequate food and their eggs, potter wasps go out and collect food, usually caterpillars, bring it back to their nests and then lay eggs. By doing so, a female potter wasp can ensure her young will have access to sufficient food supply. In the second example, butterflies adopt an alternative strategy. When looking for a nesting site, butterflies choose a host plant which can act as a food source for their young caterpillars and lay eggs there. When the eggs are hatched, the young caterpillars will feed on the host plant.
答案 2:The lecture talks about how adult insects would ensure that their new offspring can have enough food to survive. The first method is to store a large amount of food in the nest, so when baby insects are born, they can have all the food they need. For example, after constructing the nest, the potter wasp would place a variety of food in it to feed its young. The second method is to build the nest close to a source of food. For example, the butterfly would fly around searching for food. Once it has located a place with a reliable food source, it would build its nest close to this source. When young butterflies are born, they can fly and get food on their own easily.
